True Rippers defeat God’s Reign in a nail-biting series in VCL SA Split 2

After losing to God’s Reign twice in VCL Split 1, True Rippers finally found their revenge as they defeated them in a nail-biting series, winning 2-1. They threw an 8-4 lead in the second map only to come back from 3-9 in the third map.

The roster of True Rippers consists of Saaransh “Whimp” Dang as the IGL, Shravana “Techno” Sahoo, Chogyal “Kaizen” Bhutia, Philip “Aryu” Vergara, Nereus “d1srupt” Lico and Aditya “Pixelzz” Gulhane(Sub).

Map Veto and Selection

God’s Reign banned Bind and True Rippers banned Pearl. Split and Ascent were picked respectively. Ascent and Fracture are banned, with Haven remaining.

Match Recap

Lotus started with a flawless pistol round by TR as well as the anti-eco round. They lost the bonus round as Vibhorr got a triple kill. Round 6 was won by TR as D1srupt got 4 kills as a breach, equalizing the score at 3-3. Round 11 was an amazing round by GDR as Vibhorr defended his bombsite with a quad-kill. Round 12 saw a triple kill by D1srupt to finish the half at 5-7.

TR got the second pistol again, D1srupt getting his second 3k in a row, along with the anti-eco round. They even managed to win the bonus round, leading 8-7. Round 17 saw an amazing Ace by D1srupt. Round 19 was another clutch by D1srupt as he ninja defuses the spike in a 1v2 situation. TR finished the map at 13-7, not dropping a single round in the defensive half. D1srupt single-handedly carried his team with a KDA of 25/10/9 on Breach along with an ACS of 314.

TR won the pistol round again on Split as well as the anti-eco round. GDR won their buy round but had to save the next round as TR had a man advantage. After being 1-5 down, GDR clutched a 2v4 situation with a Judge and a Phantom only. Round 8 was another win by TR as Aryu got a triple kill to lead 6-2. TR managed to close the half at 8-4. 

GDR won their first pistol round as well as the anti-eco round. TR won their first buy round with Whimp getting a triple kill on Viper. Round 16 was won by GDR as Vibhorr again got a triple kill on Viper. Round 17 was a thrifty win by TR as Kaizen went in with a quad kill on his Jett knives. Round 18 was a particularly bizarre round as Kaizen got triple kills on his operator and missed his shorty shots on Autumn but still managed to knife him to get a quad kill. Still, Tixx almost clutched a 1v3 situation but the spike gets defused, leaving him with an unimportant quad kill. GDR managed to equalize the score at 11-11. GDR managed to win 5 rounds in a row to lead 12-11 for the first time but threw away the 24th round in a 5v3 advantage. Aryu managed to clutch a 1v2 to push the match to overtime.

GDR won the first round of OT as Vibhorr got a triple kill and finished the match at 14-12 after pulling a comeback from being 4-8 down. 

Haven started with GDR winning the pistol round on the defense side as well as the anti-eco round. TR won their buy round but lost the next round to go 1-3. Finally in Round 10 TR managed to get their second round, with GDR in an 8-2 advantage. They finished the half at 9-3.

TR won the pistol round and the anti-eco round. They also managed to win the bonus round to bring the score to 6-9. After getting 5 rounds in a row for TR, Round 18 saw a thrifty win by GDR to lead 10-8. TR somehow managed to equalize the score at 10-10. Aryu gets a triple kill in Round 22 to again equalize the score at 11-11. TR ninja-defuse the spike in the 23rd round to win 13-11 after being 3-9 down.
