Reckoning Esports win 2-1 against True Rippers in VCL SA Split 2 Playoffs

True Rippers’ journey ended in the VCL playoffs today as they lost 2-1 from Reckoning Esports in a nail-biting series. True Rippers came back from 4-8 to win Map 2 at 13-9 and took the 3rd Map to Overtime, but couldn’t close the map and the series.

True Rippers Roster and Lineup

The roster of True Rippers consists of Philip “Aryu” Vergara as the IGL, Shravana “Techno” Sahoo, Chogyal “Kaizen” Bhutia, Saaransh “Whimp” Dang, Nereus “d1srupt” Lico and Aditya “Pixelzz” Gulhane(Sub).

Reckoning Esports Roster and Lineup

Reckoning Esports had a talented lineup of Harsh “Harshhh” Arora as IGL, Saksham “Deadly10” Aurangabadkar, Jit “Tryst” Dutta, Daniil “flabben” Merzlyakov, Aleksandr “hvoya” Eremin and  Varun “Mast3r” Menon.

Map Veto and Selection

Reckoning banned Split and True Rippers banned Fracture. Bind and Lotus were picked to ban Ascent and Haven. Pearl was the deciding map. 

Match Recap

Bind started by RGE winning the pistol round as well as the anti-eco round. TR won their full buy round as well as the next round, thanks to his quad kill, and managed to equalize the score at 2-2. RGE managed to win 4 rounds in a row to lead 6-2. TR managed to finish the half at 5-7 as Kaizen got a triple kill in Round 12.

RGE won the second pistol, owing to Harshhh’s triple kill. The anti-eco was a close one, as D1srupt got a quad kill but Tryst clutched a 1v2, owing to their low hp. TR won a flawless full buy round, bringing the score to 6-9. TR won the next round as well, but then RGE won 5 rounds in a row to finish the map at 13-7.

Lotus started with TR winning the pistol round, with Whimp getting a triple kill. They won the anti-eco as well but lost the bonus. Round 4 was won by TR as D1srupt clutched a 1v2 to lead 3-1. Round 11 saw a 4k by Deadly10 on his Operator. RGE managed to close the half at 8-4. 

TR won the second pistol as well as the anti-eco round. RGE won the full buy round but lost the next round, owing to Whimp’s triple kill. Round 20 saw a quad kill by Whimp, giving TR the lead of 11-9. TR won the map, coming back from being 4-8 down to only losing one round in the second half to close at 13-9. 

TR won the pistol round on Pearl but lost their anti-eco round as RGE converted a thrifty. They won 3 rounds in a row to lead 3-1. Round 8 saw a triple kill by Kaizen to equalize the score at 4-4. RGE finished the half at 7-5 with a flawless round. 

TR again won the pistol but lost the anti-eco round. Round 16 saw a quad kill by Kaizen on his Operator to bring the scoreline to 7-9. TR equalized the score at 9-9 and then at 11-11. The match was eventually pushed to Overtime where Round 28 saw a 2v5 clutch by TR to equalize the score at 14-14. RGE closes the map out at 17-15 after nail-biting rounds.

Hvoya was the MVP as his KDA was 71/51/19 on three maps.

Reckoning Esports will now face God’s Reign on 7th June 2023 at 5 PM.
