VCT Game Changers Coach Fired Following Accusations of Sexual Misconduct With a Minor

The VCT Game Changers program, which was launched in 2021, aims at promoting women in esports and providing them with opportunities to compete at the highest levels. While the program has grown rapidly over the past couple of years and achieved great success, it has not been without its share of controversies.

Recently, there have been multiple instances in the scene where men have been accused of various forms of misconduct or controversial behavior. In October 2022, Valorant org Rising Hope dropped its entire roster for Game Changers after its coach was alleged of sexually harassing the team members on multiple occasions.

In March 2023, the Game Changers community was rocked by yet another controversy involving a male coach who was accused of sexual misconduct against a minor and subsequently fired from his position.

On March 17, Japanese esports organization FENNEL revealed that they had picked up two coaches for their Valorant Game Changers roster – Rader and hanpipe. The announcement was quickly followed by the surfacing of sexual misconduct allegations against the latter.

In the replies to the aforementioned announcement, Gareso Takizawa revealed that hanpipe was accused of having sex with a 16-year-old at her parents’ home.

FENNEL replied to the Tweet, claiming that they would launch an investigation into the accusations. A day later, the org announced that hanpipe had been removed from the team.

“When we checked the facts, we found that hanpipe himself had admitted to the facts and that the matter had been reported to a third party,” FENNEL said in a statement. “This was not revealed to us until the facts were discovered.”
