Valve Announces Counter Strike 2

Valve’s highly anticipated “Counter Strike 2” is set to make its debut with a limited test starting today. The game promises a complete overhaul to every system and every piece of content, bringing with it the largest technical leap forward in the history of the franchise. According to a FAQ, the full game is slated to release in the summer of 2023.

“Counter-Strike 2” is built on Valve’s Source 2 engine, boasting significant updates to core mechanics such as smoke grenades and sub-tick updates. These updates allow servers to register the exact instant that motion starts, a shot is fired, or a grenade is thrown. Limited Test with Selective Enrollment

Valve’s limited test for “Counter-Strike 2” starts today, with invites being sent out based on factors such as recent playtime on Valve official servers, trust factor, and Steam account standing. Players selected for the limited test will receive a notification in the CS:GO main menu, allowing them to enroll. Valve has also given permission for participants to stream their experience and post videos of it, giving those who cannot participate a glimpse of the game’s new smoke and lighting effects.
