Velocity Gaming dominates VCL SA 4-0, MLT fails to qualify

VLT completed all four of their matches today, and is the only team to not drop a single map the entire qualifiers. MLT on the other hand went 1-3, ending their run in this tournament. MLT almost came back on map 2 but failed to finish it.

The roster of Velocity Gaming consists of Sagnik “Hellff” Roy, Debanjan “DEATHMAKER” Das, Karan “Excali” Mhaswadkar, Domagoj “Doma” Fancev, Adam “ec1s” Eccles as IGL and Anuj “Amaterasu” Sharma (Sub). 

MLT Esports Roster and Lineup

The roster of MLT Esports comprised of Atharv “Rio” Ahire as the IGL, Saharyar “BadmaN” Shaikh, Abhay “KnightRider” Mulchandani, Jay “BADlove” Patil and Venkatesh “Venka” Sharma.

Map Veto and Selection

For the veto, MLT and Velocity banned Lotus and Ascent respectively. MLT picks Haven while Velocity picks Pearl. They go on to ban Split and Fracture, making Icebox the last map to be played.

Match Recap

In Haven, VLT won the pistol round, and MLT decided to force their buy in the second round. But their attempt was stopped in their tracks as Doma got a triple kill to close the round. Round 3 saw some amazing sheriff shots by Rio as MLT almost converted their eco round into a win but Ec1s clutched the round 1 vs 2. The 3-0 lead by VLT did not run long as MLT got 4 consecutive rounds on attack. But VLT managed to get back on track and finish the half 7-5 in their favor. In the second half, VLT won the pistol again, and the entire half, only dropped one round, winning the map 13-6 on MLT’s map pick.

On Pearl, MLT won the pistol round, but managed to give away an eco round to VLT, getting thriftied. VLT dominated the entire half, finishing the half at 9-3. MLT won their pistol round again, and their anti-eco with Venka’s three kills. With Venka’s triple kills again, MLT managed to convert their bonus round into a win. VLT had to eco the next round but they managed to secure the thrifty win after losing three rounds consecutively. VLT was leading the map 12-6 when MLT activated the 9-3 curse, managing to break into VLT’s mind and equalizing the score at 12-12, forcing it into an overtime.In round 24 itself, Deathmaker almost pulled off a 1 vs 4 situation at mere 10 HP but Rio stopped him in his tracks. Despite coming so far, MLT failed to convert the overtime into their favor as Deathmaker and Ec1s shut down their advances towards victory. 

With this VLT qualifies for the main event while MLT is out of the running for Split 1.
