After over a month of intense League of Legends action, its biggest annual tournament has concluded, and South Korean team DAMWON Gaming has managed to emerge victorious after a showdown against Suning in the grand finals.
Who Won Worlds Series 2020?
DAMWON Gaming
For the first time in three years, a team from the LCK circuit has managed to attain the title of Worlds champions, with team Samsung Galaxy claiming the title for the last time back in 2017.
Both the teams managed to start off head to head in the initial clashes of the series, tieing at a score of 1-1 in the first two games. However, games three and four saw DAMWON Gaming dominate the series without leaving any margin of error for their Chinese counterparts to capitalize on. The former managed to land themselves back to back wins in both the games and ended the best-of-five series with a scoreline of 3-1 in their favour.
Viewers of the grand finals also witnessed the first pentakill in the history of League of Legends to be done in a Worlds finals coming from Suning star Chen “Bin” Ze-Bin.
With this victory, team DAMWON Gaming have earned themselves a 25% share of the Worlds 2020 prize pool and the title of the best League of Legends team in the world.
