Speculations were already running rife in the community regarding the Call of Duty franchise being a part of the Xbox subscription service called the “Game Pass”.
Ever since Microsoft announced and completed its takeover of Activision Blizzard, the studio behind the franchise everyone was anticipating this big announcement, expecting it to be on the roadmap soon.
A while back, a Korean device’s screenshot of a notification from the Game Pass app was leaked on Twitter, where it said “Black Ops 6 is coming to Game Pass on day one later this year” and the banner said that the news was “just announced”

Not sure whose the source. pic.twitter.com/3r7uxaqCC1
Well, there was no confirmation until yesterday & with the way AI-generated images were flooding X ( formerly Twitter) and spreading misinformation, people weren’t too sure as well. Adding to the mayhem Window’s central’s Jez Corden replied to the post mentioning how it should be announced this week.
yep, should be officially announced this week.

Although the expectations for the news weren’t exactly out of the blue, it was well known that Xbox added day-one launch titles to their Game Pass collection, and the timing of the news was especially striking since the company had been attracting a lot of criticism in the recent past.
Well cut to yesterday, the news was made official!

Black Ops 6 will be made available for Game Pass on day one for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. This is followed by Xbox, set for a massive event called the “Summer Games Fest” coming June 9, followed by an event that supposedly would most likely reveal more information regarding the official release date, called the “Call of Duty Showcase”
Ever since Microsoft’s takeover of Activision Blizzard, things got worse due to a massive amount of layoffs, with some direction changes in the organization with titles like Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves hitting the PlayStation market.
Well, there is a strong reason to believe that including Black Ops 6 in the Game Pass subscription is going to boost sales and persuade a lot of players to convert to get the game pass, but with no release date announced for the game yet, players are left hanging.
But if history taught us anything, there is a very high chance that the next title will hit the shelves sometime around October or November of 2024.
