A game-breaking save bug in Baldur’s Gate has been haunting the console players for a while, but it seems that the issue has finally been fixed by Xbox.
For the uninitiated, the infamous Baldur’s Gate 3 save bug caused Xbox players to lose all their progress due to a firmware glitch in the console. The bug leads the console to mistakenly believe that the save has been uploaded to the cloud when, in reality, the process isn’t complete.
On January 16, 2024, the Xbox Support Twitter handle officially confirmed that this major issue has finally been fixed. It claimed that an update will be rolling out later today to fix this problem, and players will be able to manually update their consoles via Settings. The automatic update for consoles is set to roll out next week.
Microsoft further confirmed that the problem did not originate from BG3 developer Larian Studios but instead stemmed from compatibility issues with the Xbox platform.
Fortunately, that’s all in the past now, and console players can finally savor the 2023 Game of the Year winner on their Xbox without any additional headaches, as long as they manually update their consoles from the Xbox console settings.
