As reported by Insider Gaming, XDefiant became Ubisoft’s first game to hit the 1 million unique players mark just within 2.5 hours after release and surpassed the 3 million unique players mark in 48 hours. XDefiant is said to have gathered just under 8 million unique players ever since its release. All these numbers feel staggering but how does it reflect on Player Concurrency numbers?
Let’s check out the number of Concurrent Players on XDefiant.
XDefiant was successful in captivating players and fans from Ubisoft’s other franchises as the game features 5 factions, each coming from different games- Cleaners (The Division), Libertad (Far Cry 6), Echelon (Splinter Cell), Phantoms (Ghost Recon Phantoms) and DedSec(Watch Dogs 2). This was the main attraction for many players and everyone rushed to see how their beloved game was represented in XDefiant.
Despite the exciting numbers, some of the developers have not been keen on taking the numbers seriously. This reaction might seem out of place when the internal target for unique players was set at 5 million which was surpassed within 8 days after release. It is widely accepted that the unique player number does not matter in the long run. What matters is the concurrent players’ number.
Having said this, XDefiant recorded the highest of 700,000 concurrent players worldwide on May 27, 2024. This is a huge number that has already solidified XDefiant as one of the best games coming from Ubisoft. Even before its release, XDefiant was already being referred to as the ‘Call of Duty’ killer.
We are yet to see any updated stats from Ubisoft and there is no way for 3rd party trackers to find out the concurrency numbers. It would be exciting to see the journey Ubisoft has planned for XDefiant to stop its concurrent player numbers from dwindling.
