Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth has broken into the top 40 of the highest earning Esports player and retained his place at the top of CSGO pros, after having won consecutive majors with Astralis.
Ranked at #40, he is the first non Dota player to hit the mark, with winnings of $1.42 million. He is closely followed by fellow teammate Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen at $1.41 million.
The disparity between Dota and other esports is the huge prize pool offered in each event. While the biggest CS event, the Major has only recently started drawing in a prize pool of a million dollars, Dota has 5 such tournaments this year compared to 2 of CS. The International, one of Esports biggest events, has a whopping prize pool of $25 million.
The number 1 spot is held by Dota veteran Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi, with $4.16M in winnings, ahead of #2, reigning TI champion Johan “n0tail” Sundstein at $3.76 million.
