A 16-year-old boy from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh shot his mother to death for not allowing him to play the game. It was later found that the young adult was addicted to playing the game. Intense game addiction has been a major issue around the country among young kids and adults.
During the investigation, the boy tries to mislead the police by narrating a fake story about the involvement of some electrician. Later it was found that the boy used his father’s gun to shoot his mother. The incident took place at night on Saturday, 4th June 2022.
Qasim Abidi, ADCP, East Lucknow said on Tuesday, “The police rushed through the spot after getting information about the incident. The forensic team reached the spot and gathered the evidence. The investigation is completed. it was revealed that the 16-year-old son shot dead his mother by using his father’s pistol. The minor boy shot dead his mother after she stopped him from playing the PUBG Game”.
The police official further added, “This is a clear case of addiction towards the game due to which he committed the crime. We have taken the boy under custody and further probe is underway”.
This is not the first incident where young adults led to committing crimes due to gaming addiction. In many cases, they tried to harm themselves when not allowed to play by their parents or guardians.
In one similar incident, A 14-year-old boy died by suicide in Central Mumbai’s Hindmata area on 13th February 2022.
The police investigation found that the suicide led due to an addiction to the online game Free Fire.
The game was banned by the government of India but the boy was still playing the game. Although the boy’s parents and teachers denied any sign of gaming addiction and that he was a bright student and fond of cricket.
