Everything You Need to Know About the Water & Rock Type Extravaganza!

Niantic’s Pokémon Go just announced their water and rock type Pokémon event called “Spelunker’s Cove” which much to the happiness of the community,  seems to coincide with the ongoing Pokémon Go Fest: Madrid. 

The event will be up from June 15th till June 18th and will have inflated spawn rates for water and Rock type Pokèmons. 

What are some exciting rewards to win during the Spelunker’s Cove event?

As we saw earlier, spawn rates of certain types of Pokémon and any candies obtained by catching them will be doubled. It was even mentioned that Crabrawler is also making its “shiny” debut, so if the gods of luck are by your side, you may even see a shiny one!

Well, here is the list of items & other perks you can win during the Pokémon “Spelunker’s Cove” event, including the paid event ‘Time Research’ and the Field Research Tasks and spawns. 

But before we move on, what is “Timed Research”?

Timed Research is a paid “premium” iteration of the event that costs $1.99 (~₹167) and the battle pass makes it worth the value due to the guaranteed Crabrawler encounters that help you progress in the game.

Explore 5 km (Crabrawler encounter)

Spin 10 PokéStops (Crabrawler encounter)

Catch 20 Pokémon (Crabrawler encounter)

Rewards: 3 Premium Battle Passes, Crabrawler encounter, 20 Crabrawler Candy

Spinning a PokéStop should give you a chance at getting assigned one of these tasks:

  • Catch 5 rock-type Pokémon (Geodude, Nosepass, or Binacle encounter)
  • Win a raid (Carbink, Crabrawler, or Jangmo-o encounter)
  • Power up Pokémon 10 times (Crabrawler encounter)
  • Spin 5 PokéStops (5 Poké Balls, 2 potions, or 2 revives)
