Within the short span of time since its initial announcement on August 23rd, Deadlock has created waves of excitement within the gaming community with its unique gameplay that has managed to capture the hearts of millions of gamers worldwide.
For the uninitiated, Deadlock is Valve’s upcoming third-person hero shooter that seamlessly blends the depth and complexity of MOBAs with the fast-paced action and movement of a shooter. Despite the game still being in its extremely early days of alpha testing, it’s apparent that this unique combination of the two genres has been executed perfectly by Valve, resulting in Deadlock garnering the attention of gamers from throughout the globe.
Needless to say, in only a few hours of its official announcement, Deadlock found itself rapidly gaining traction in the video game streaming community, with big names like Shroud, Summit1g, and xQc trying out the game while livestreaming their experience.
Shroud Calls Deadlock “The Best Third-Person Shooter” & Praises Its Mechanical Depth
While many streamers expressed positive opinions about Deadlock, Shroud’s enthusiasm for the game was particularly notable.
“This is probably the best third-person shooter I’ve ever played,” Shroud said during his livestream. “It’s not just simply shoot and use abilities. There’s so much more nuance to it.”
Shroud then proceeded to explain and praise Deadlock’s interesting movement mechanics that set it apart from other titles in its genre, including sides, double jumps, dashes, slides, and more.
“It has probably the most mechanics I’ve ever seen in a third-person shooter,” Shroud continued. “It’s f**king crazy.”
According to Shroud, the only thing that could make Deadlock better is if Valve introduced a “wall-riding” mechanic, but he also acknowledged that it’s probably only a matter of time before a character can do that.
Due to Deadlock being in its early alpha stage of testing, most fans haven’t had the chance to access the game yet. In fact, the only way for fans to be able to play this game is for them to get invited by someone who’s already a part of the playtest. However, that hasn’t stopped the title from attaining the 9th spot on the list of the most played games on Steam.
It’s still astonishing to see just how far Deadlock has come from its early days of testing. As Valve continues to work on Deadlock in the coming days, the game is only expected to improve from here on out, and its future in the esports world seems extremely promising.
