Disguised Toast Responds to Being ‘Cancelled’ on Twitter

Jeremy Wang, better known by his online alias Disguised Toast, is undoubtedly one of the most popular streamers in the world right now. The 29-year-old streamer rapidly gained popularity over the past year due to his Among Us streams and ‘200iq plays’ in the murder-mystery title.

Toast has found himself amid some heated controversy recently after a Twitter user who goes by the name Hope called him out for his “edgy” and “borderline offensive” humor. The series of posts by the Twitter user led to many people attempting to ‘cancel’ Toast for his behavior.

“He has explained that there is a grey area between being offensive and not offensive, and he prefers to stay in the grey area where people can squint eyes at him and say, ‘that’s kinda messed up,’ but at the same time, it isn’t,” the post read.

“Making edgy humor or dark humor jokes are not funny unless you are the one a part of that community and making the jokes. When someone who is not part of that community intrudes on that space in which they do not belong, it becomes offensive.”

The series of posts calling out Toast’s problematic behavior can be found here.

Disguised Toast Response

Within a few hours, since the posts calling out Toast were put up, Toast replied with a post of his own, addressing his “problematic” past.

“There’s nothing about what I’ve done publicly that I have tried to hide or delete, or claim ignorance to. I take full responsibility for all I’ve said and all my actions,” Toast said in his statement. “I can proudly say that I’m someone who is really open about my life in a space where many hide, not because they are bad people, but because people on the internet love judging and back seating a streamer’s life.”

He then proceeded to explain his side of things in the long statement, and finally asked people to stop targeting his friends.

“The one thing I ask is to leave my friends alone. They are wonderful people that don’t deserve any hate for associating with me. Boycott my content, cancel me, whatever – but don’t drag them into it by pressuring them or demanding an apology from them just because we play games together.”
