Ibai’s Boxing Event Breaks Twitch Record with Over 3 Million Viewers

The biggest non-English speaking Twitch streamer Ibai has broken the Twitch viewership record during the live stream of La Velada del Año 3 reaching just over 3.4 million concurrent viewers.

La Velada del Año 3 was a boxing event that featured top content creators fighting each other. The record in question was held by the previous iteration of the same event and the latest one caused Ibai to break his own record.

Twitch is dominated by English-speaking streamers and for a native Spanish-speaking streamer to dominate is an unbelievable feat. Ibai’s influence extended the boundaries of Twitch and there little argument to have when labeling him the biggest Spanish content creator.

Top 5 most viewed live streams on Twitch:

  1. Ibai: 3 442 725
  2. Ibai: 3,356,464
  3. TheGrefg: 2,470,347
  4. TheGrefg: 1,745,462
  5. Ibai: 1,502,295

Even though Twitch is ideally a platform to live stream video games, it is events like boxing that end up topping the charts. Although there are plenty of esports events with incredible viewership numbers it is hard to beat the likes of boxing matches.

Lately, Twitch has been on a downward spiral with their top streamers joining Kick and Rumble. Holding onto streamers like Ibai and top esports production houses could be the key to fighting back.
