Pokimane’s signature has been highly coveted ever since it was speculated that she might follow the footsteps of several of her fellow streamers and join YouTube as she nears the end of her Twitch contract.
As she nears her Twitch everyone is speculating where the highly rated streamer would end up. Pokimane is known to pull insane amounts of viewers which Twitch is on the verge of losing. Facebook Gaming and YouTube has emerged as two possible destinations for her if she ends up leaving the Amazon-owned streaming platform.
Pokimane said: “When I had to first choose between Twitch and YouTube, you know what I decided off of? Not which platform would give me more money, and it is a lot of life-changing money they’re offering. Not which platform was nicer to me. But which platform I would have more f**king fun on!”
Pokimane won’t be the first one to jump ships. Several other streamers who are closely acquainted with her have done the same. Even though changing platforms would come at a cost of losing some viewers, as precedented by streamers like Valkyrae and CouRage, with some time and effort, YouTube pulls in just as many viewers as Twitch.
Pokimane leaving Twitch would most likely open the flood gate, as several others may choose to follow in her footsteps. She was widely criticized by a large part of the Twitch community for getting an unfair advantage.
Tomorrow is the day when we get to know where she is headed and her decisions will have greater implications given her stature as a streamer.
