Second Shot introduced by Valve in the latest update, changes accuracy and shooting

Valve pushed a major CS:GO update a couple of hours ago which is by far one of the most important and game changer in a very long time. The update which goes by the version name 1.35.4.4, considerable effects the gameplay as the Recoil patterns and recovery rates of rifles has been reformed which Valve calls Second Shot, alongside tiny audio and visual additions to the game.

Other than Second Shot, tiny bugs including that of players getting spawned in the wrong places, and some of the network disrupted problems which affected the gameplay of the player in question.

Second Shot

According to the blog post by Valve, Second Shot is defined to be a new recovery method implemented in the game which alters with the current recoil, spray and tap patterns of the primary rifles AK47, M4A1-s and M4A4. Valve explains Accuracy Recovery Rate as the time it takes for a weapon to return back to its original target after being affected by the impact because of firing. They make it complicated to understand how the now variable rate will be different from the pre-update fixed rate.

To make things clear, Valve has implemented the new recovery and recoil rates also called Second Shot, which will be uneven depending upon the independent usage of the players. The uniform pattern on which the majority relies, the spray-and-pray will no longer be as effective as taping.

As you can quickly examine the graph above it clearly demonstrates how the recoil stays better for a shorter fire pattern than a long ranged one, explicitly AK’s and M4’s sprays will now be worse comparatively.

Interestingly this is actually the second shot from Valve to attempt a change the in-game shooting mechanics, the first one earlier last year had a major backlash as it messed up with the pattern of the shooting. This, however, looks promising and independent as it is used.
